How to make kaalan


 Coconuts grows in large numberin kerala. so in kerala recipes coconut are widely used.
Kaalan  is a Kerala dish  made of yogurt, coconut and one vegetable like nendran plantain or a tuber like yam. It is very thick and more sour than Aviyal.Kaalan is typically served as part of the Sadhya.

Ingredients:

1) Raw banana
2) Coconut
3) Green chilly
4) Pepper powder
5) Turmeric powder

6) Cumin powder
7)  Coconut oil
8) Mustard seed
9) Curry leaves
10) Curd
11). Salt


How to make kaalan



1) Peel the skin of the banana and cut into small pieces.
2) Boil this in a pressure cooker with salt.
3) Grind ingredients 2 finely and mix with the boiled banana.
4) Bring this to boil.
5) Add curd and bring to boil stirring continuously.
6) Sputter the mustard seeds in oil, add curry leaves and pour this to the above.
